Best Stopwatch Apps on macOS (2025 Edition)
April 22, 2025

Who hasn’t gone hunting for a simple stopwatch app to install on their Mac?
And if you have, chances are you’ve asked yourself: which one is the BEST stopwatch app for me?
That’s exactly what we’re breaking down today. Let's take a look at the 5 best stopwatch apps in 2025 for macOS.
1. Tempus: Stopwatch
Tempus has been around for a while and has solid ratings on the App Store. This isn’t a menubar app per se—it’s a full app that gives you the option to display the time in the menubar. However, you’ll need to open the main window to interact with it.
The UI is clean and simple, with Start/Stop and Reset buttons. We really like the ability to copy the time to your clipboard, and the “Round” feature is great if you’re timing different tasks on your computer.
If you’re specifically looking for a Lap/Round feature, Tempus is a solid pick.
2. Mini Stopwatch
People love Mini Stopwatch for its incredibly intuitive UI. Some even say it should’ve come built-in with macOS.
The stopwatch lives in your menu bar, always visible. Click once to start, click again to stop, and double-click to reset. That’s it. Probably the most minimalist and practical stopwatch you’ll find. No distractions, no fancy bells and whistles—just a clean, fast, and efficient way to track time. If you hate clutter and just want to get things done, this is it.
It also includes features like notification sounds, keyboard shortcuts, and more—and it’s free.
A must-have!
3. Tiny Stopwatch
As the name suggests, Tiny Stopwatch is a minimal stopwatch that sits quietly in your menu bar. It does exactly what you'd expect, and includes Lap/Round support.
To unlock shortcuts and more customization, you’ll need to pay $4.95.
4. Good Stopwatch
Good Stopwatch is another long-standing favorite on the App Store. It’s super minimalist, with a tiny window that gives you basic stopwatch controls.
The standout feature? A full-screen mode—great for events or presentations.
We do wish it had menu bar support though, and at $3.99, it might feel a bit steep for what it offers.
Is it a little pricey for the features it brings? Maybe.
5. Timer RH
Timer RH is both a Stopwatch and a Timer, wrapped in a flashy interface. It offers a variety of visual themes, which could be a plus if you like more visual flair.
However, there’s no menu bar control—you’ll need to open the main window to interact. And the UI can be a bit confusing at first, as it blends timers and stopwatches into one interface.
Once you get the hang of it, though, and if bold visuals are your thing, it could cover all your time-tracking needs.
Full features will run you $12.99.
Just got a new Mac? Want to step up your productivity game?
Having a solid stopwatch app is a no-brainer.
Pick one and give it a spin—you might be surprised how often you’ll use it.
